Sofology joins the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network
We believe that all of our customers should be able to find a sofa they love, and to find one in a way that works for them. As a responsible retailer committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers, we are passionate about ensuring each of our stores are a safe and inclusive environment for all, and that’s why we are proud to announce that we have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network.
Not all disabilities are visible - some, like autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety and visual or hearing impairments, are not immediately obvious and make life more demanding for many people. By joining the Sunflower network, we’ve committed to providing all of our customers with an in-store experience that works for them, helping them feel at home in our stores as they find a sofa they love.
A calmer shopping experience
This project is close to our heart, as Sofologist Simeon Smyth’s daughter was diagnosed as autistic 2 years ago. Born out of a conversation in store between Simeon and the leadership team, Simeon has championed this project as shopping in stores is one of the biggest challenges for her daughter. Describing the project as helpful for colleagues and customers alike, Simeon said:
“Sofology wants to ensure that we have an inclusive environment for both colleagues & customers. Lots of work is being done behind the scenes to ensure that our colleagues have awareness training, as well as ensuring that our stores can provide a calmer shopping environment for those with hidden disabilities and their families.
I'm really excited that Sofology is involved with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, as it is now becoming widely recognised around the world.”
Accommodating our customers’ needs
Speaking about our commitment to providing safe, welcoming environments for all of our customers, CEO of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, Paul White said:
“We are delighted that iconic furniture brand Sofology has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network. Their colleagues are trained to recognise and support customers with non-visible disabilities who wear the Sunflower with kindness, understanding and extra time.
A sofa is one of the biggest investments you will make for your home, so choosing that perfect piece needs to be a great experience. Now, Sunflower wearers can feel confident that they will be given the care they need to ensure that their purchase is right for them.”
